Nine senior athletes on the Boothbay Region High School indoor track and girls basketball team were honored before the girls basketball game at BRHS against the Oak Hill Raiders Thursday, Jan. 23.
The traditional ceremony included the introduction of the athletes, the presentation of a carnation to each athlete by their coaches, and hand-off of the flower to parents, guardians, or other relatives seated on the bleachers.
“The flower symbolizes the appreciation Boothbay Region High School has for the years of hard work and dedication of our student athletes and the years of support from the people that have helped make their participation possible,” read public address announcer Normand “Skip” L’Heureux.
Below are the athletes who were honored.
Indoor track
Eddie Carpenter, son of Scott and Sandra Carpenter, participated for three seasons. He plans to join the workforce.
Bailey Lewis, daughter of Chelsea Lewis and granddaughter of Brenda Bennett, has been on the team for two seasons. She plans to attend college and study premedical sciences.
Neal Baldwin, son of Sarah and Jonathan Baldwin, has been on the team for three seasons. He plans to attend the University of New England to study biology.
Chase Mansfield, son of Leah Plummer and Bill Mansfield, has been on the team for three seasons. He plans to attend college to study electrical and computer engineering.
Cleyton Splaine, son of Margaret Lembo-Splaine and John Splaine, has been on the team for three seasons. He plans to attend college and major in film and media.
Abbie Clark, daughter of Sarah and Donnie Clark, has been on the team for four seasons. She plans to attend college to study veterinary medicine.
Girls basketball
Ivory Cody is the daughter of Kate Sullivan Cody and David Cody. She has played basketball for three seasons. She plans to attend the University of Southern Maine for secondary education with a minor in special education and history..
Anna Gosselin is the daughter of Kristen and John Gosselin. She has played basketball for four seasons. She plans to attend college to study marine biology.
Maddie Orchard is the daughter of Jen and Eric Orchard. She has played basketball for four seasons. She plans to attend college to study athletic training.
Senior Night for boys basketball, cheerleading and pep band is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 3.
